About

Our HistoryIn 2013, local artist Liz Cutler and her studio mate Katie Churchill embarked on a creative journey that would transform their studio into a hub of artistic expression. With the inclusion of figure drawing classes and collaborative efforts with talented artists like Rob Pollen, Phil Frey, and Mary Ternus, the seeds of ArtWaves MDI were sown. This artistic endeavor blossomed further when a partnership with the YWCA introduced stained glass mosaic and printmaking to their repertoire. As the offerings expanded and artistic connections deepened, it became evident that Mount Desert Island was yearning for a Community Arts Center.

ArtWaves ontinues to inspire the community through classes and workshops held at ArtWaves and around the MDI area.
