Requirements

Bar Harbor Savings & Loan has one requirement: no nudes. All work must be created by you, the artist, from your original concept, and must be one-of-a-kind. Works created from photos taken by others are not considered to be your original concept.

This venue can accommodate up to 12 medium-sized framed paintings, drawings, and 2-dimensional wall-hangings or shallow bas-relief works no more than 2" deep. They must be wired for hanging; sawtooth hangers will not work. We suggest the hanging wire be taut and attached with D-rings mounted on the back of the sides, ¼ of the height from the top edge. Paintings must be dry. Artwork must be framed. Museum-depth cradled panels and gallery-wrapped canvas at least 1⅜ inch thick may be unframed if the edges are painted. Staples may not be exposed. We suggest that works be limited to no more than 24x24 including the frame and no more than 15-lb in weight.

The decisions of the show coordinators shall be final. Bar Harbor S&L does not take a commission.

By your submission, you are granting Artwaves and Bar Harbor Savings & Loan permission to use images of your artwork for publicity and educational purposes. Your art will be handled by knowledgeable professionals experienced in the handling of artwork. Nevertheless, by your submission you are releasing and discharging the officers and members of Artwaves and the exhibit venue from any and all claims occasioned by damage to or loss of your artwork while in the possession of Artwaves or the venue.

Please send a good photo of your artwork (excluding the frame) to exhibits@artwavesmdi.org. If possible, name your photo file with your last name and the title, i.e., Wyeth - Christinas World. The bank will provide customers with a price list upon request. Please provide the following information:

Your name

Price if for sale, NFS if not for sale

Your phone or email address in case a buyer is interested

And for display planning purposes, what is Height x Width including the frame?

On Dec. 13 you will be notified if your artwork has been chosen for this exhibit. If selected, you will print the above information from the email you sent us, and securely attach it to the back of your painting. You will wrap or cushion your artwork for delivery to Artwaves on or before Wed., Dec. 27, 2023, which will then arrange transport to Bar Harbor Savings & Loan.

Thank you for your participation.
