April Member’s Show: Call for Art

ALL-MEDIA MEMBERS EXHIBIT

ELIGIBILITY:

ACCEPTED MEDIA:

This is an all-media exhibition, celebrating the diverse creative talents of ArtWaves members. We welcome all original visual art, including but not limited to: painting, drawing, printmaking, fiber arts, ceramics, sculpture, mixed media, photography, stained glass, assemblage, and any other unique artistic expressions. If your work does not fit within traditional categories, we encourage you to submit and reach out with any questions.

IMPORTANT DATES:

• Submission Deadline: Friday, March 14
• Notification of Acceptance: Friday, March 21
• Show runs for the month of April

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:

Each member may submit one or two works for consideration. We aim to display at least one piece from each submitting artist.

Submissions must be original, and created solely by the artist:

• Two-dimensional works must be wired for hanging. Sawtooth hangers are not compatible with the library’s cable system.
• Framed pieces should have a taut hanging wire attached with D-rings mounted approximately ¼ of the height from the top edge.
• Unframed work: Museum-depth cradled panels and gallery-wrapped canvases (minimum 1⅜” depth) are acceptable if edges are finished (no exposed staples).
• Stained glass should have a secure hanging loop for display.
• Fiber arts, quilts, and wall hangings must be ready to hang. Artists may provide a clothes hanger, rod, or cord for installation.
• Three-dimensional works (ceramics, sculpture, assemblages) will be displayed on countertops. Limited space may be available on library shelves; however, freestanding works cannot be accommodated.

Size Limit: Maximum dimensions 36” x 36” (including frame). Weight limit: 15 lbs. Please inform us in advance if your piece exceeds these limits.

Jewelry cannot be displayed securely. However, artists may submit one or two framed photographs of their work, wired for hanging. These will be displayed at the discretion of the show coordinators.

HOW TO SUBMIT:

Email your submissions to Exhibits@ArtWavesmdi.org. Please include:

• A high-quality image of each submitted work (rename file: LastName_Title.jpg, e.g., Wyeth_ChristinasWorld.jpg)
• Your Name
• Title of Artwork
• Medium
• Price (or NFS if not for sale)
• Your Email or Phone Number

SALES & LIABILITY:

The Northeast Harbor Library will handle sales and retain a 20% commission on sold works.

By submitting artwork, you grant ArtWaves and the Northeast Harbor Library permission to use images of your work for promotional and educational purposes.

While artwork will be handled by experienced professionals, ArtWaves and the Northeast Harbor Library are not liable for any damage or loss during the exhibition.
