To our friends, donors, partners and the larger artist community,
Sitting on two acres with three active buildings, five distinct studios and a movement center, the ArtWaves campus has a long history as a gathering place for the sharing of art and community.
Once a location with Acadia Summer Arts Program (ASAP), the campus was part of an artistic “think-tank” attracting renowned artists from around the globe. ArtWaves, a nonprofit 501(c)(3), acquired the space in 2017 and avoided the dissection of the property for commercial use.
As current stewards of this place we embrace both the meaningful moments and everyday joys that art brings to the soul. But stewardship is expensive and work on the buildings is needed. A major donor has provided funds to update our Kaleidoscope Studio. This is a first step in upgrading heating systems, replacing original windows and improving studio and campus lighting.
Unglamorous investments, yes. But necessary for the long term continuation of 1345-A State Highway 102 as the island's artist center and community hub.
As ArtWaves enters it tenth year at this storied place please consider supporting one of our specific infrastructure projects or contributing to the general repair fund.
With deep gratitude to each of you,
Liz Cutler, Founder and Emeritus Board Member
Karen Tuttle, President, Board of Directors
