Batik: Ancient Art, New Twist — Batik from Photographs with Gloria Avner July 7 | 10:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Turn your favorite photographs into luminous batik-style paintings using ink, wax, and watercolor on delicate rice paper. Guided by artist Gloria Avner, participants will explore ancient batik techniques while layering color and texture to transform everyday images into expressive works of art.
Use your own photographs or choose from Gloria’s collection of inspiring images. By the end of class, you’ll go home with two beautiful matted paintings ready for framing.
All materials and step-by-step instruction are included.
Open to teens and adults of all skill levels — from first-time artists to experienced painters. The class is equally rewarding for beginners, professional artists, and returning students looking to deepen their batik skills.
