About the Instructor
Hello! My name is Aquene (which translates to ‘peace’ from the Nipmuc Native American tribe). I am a holistic skin and body practitioner and wellness coach based on Mount Desert Island in Maine.
Having tried everything from Proactiv to Prozac, I was tired of dealing with acne and the anxiety that came with it. From a young age, I was desperate and determined to treat my own skin. This would grow into a full-on obsession with the world of esthetics, holistic wellness, and psychodermatology.
Having struggled greatly with my skin as a teen, I became determined to treat myself and my body’s largest organ with the utmost compassion… and the results were astounding.
When I moved to South Florida after completing my esthetics training, I underwent a year-long apprenticeship under Kristen Bauer, owner and formulator of Nourishe Organics in Delray Beach, FL. There, I learned about the power of plants and herbs as well as the importance of internal balance and its effects on the skin and spirit as a whole.
During my apprenticeship, I worked full time as an esthetician and regional skincare educator for LifeSpa at Lifetime Athletic Club in Boca Raton.
I returned to my hometown of Southwest Harbor, Maine in 2018 and decided to open The Glöw Method in order to help others achieve their ultimate glow-up through education, empowerment, and confidence.
Today, I focus on work/life balance, spending my spare time resting and playing in Acadia National Park, teaching fitness classes, giving treatments, and reading up on the latest in self care and spirituality.
