In this two part workshop, students will learn hand building slab construction techniques. Together we will construct two forms. We will start with an altered cylinder vase form. Followed by a vessel formed and constructed with slabs of clay.
Our teacher, Susan Keller, will provide all the tools needed. The pieces you create in class will be bisqued fired by our instructor. On Wednesday, students will learn glazing techniques. The instructor will then glaze fire all pieces. Your completed pieces will be available for the student to pick up on the following Saturday.
Meet the Artist:
Susan Keller is a ceramic artist and studio potter working for 25 years. Her pieces are one-of-a-kind functional wares, hand formed with highly patterned and boldly colored surfaces. Her studio practice is in San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from Texas State with a BFA in ceramics. She makes pieces for in person shows, galleries, wholesale clients, and retail.
