Join Us for a Community Fire in Clay
ArtWaves has received a grant from the Maine Arts and Humanities Commission to raise public awareness of the effects of domestic abuse on MDI. This is as a follow up to sponsoring the Finding Our Voices 2020 summer banner exhibit.
We are calling out to the community to respond in clay. Clay (at no cost to you) can be picked up at ArtWaves beginning on August 1st to self identified artists 16 and older who register for this project.
Create a piece at ArtWaves or at your home that speaks to the issue, then return the pieces to be fired in an outdoor communal firing on September 12th.
A public exhibit at the ArtWaves campus opens on September 18th to see and honor each other's work, then will be on display at the Northeast Harbor Library for the month of November.
Engaging the mind, heart and body, this project is an opportunity to raise awareness by responding in a visual manner to domestic abuse with clay.
