A recipe handout will be provided prior to each class so students can shop for groceries needed to complete the class, and any equipment, utensils, do-ahead steps needed.
Week 1: Strawberry Shortcakes Two Ways
We’ll make two versions of this iconic dessert: traditional and a chocolate version, with fresh, sweet, vanilla scented strawberries and crème fraiche whipped cream
Week 2: Crisps and Cobblers
Nectarine Raspberry Cobbler and Cherry Crisp, plus ideas on different combinations of fruits that can be used.
Week 3: Blueberry Hand Pies
Juicy blueberries encased in a flakey crust, baked or fried, with sweet vanilla glaze.
About the Instructor:
JoAnne Wood was born in England, grew up in San Francisco, and comes from a long line of fine British bakers. After graduation from the California Culinary Academy, she worked as a pastry chef in the San Francisco Bay area. Since moving to Maine in 2000, she has worked as a professional pastry chef, owned a dessert catering company and, for more than 15 years, taught cooking classes. She has a passion for cooking and baking, and for teaching people of all ages.
