It’s a beautiful world we live in, and today we need to soak up that beauty more than ever. And, what better way to social distance than to step out your backdoor and paint! So get those creative juices flowing, dig out your painting supplies, and join us! This watercolor course is for Advanced beginner and Intermediate levels.

Although overwhelming at times, plein air painting is so important to growing as an artist. Allowing us to be in the moment and stretching our minds to capture what can’t be in a snapshot. But let's be honest, it isn’t always that romantic! Senses are overloaded with sights, smells, and sounds and it can be hard to interpret what to paint. Erica has had all of this in mind while designing this class and hopes to prepare you to head out into the field. We will go over tools and supplies, and how to pack them so they won’t be a burden, as well as painting techniques and composition building.

Over the four days, Erica will introduce you to concepts and techniques to help you begin recognizing the key elements in your surroundings that will create a successful painting. Sharing her process by discussion and demonstration, students will be able to paint along with Erica each class, gaining technique along the way.

This 4-day intensive class meets during the mornings, allowing participants to spend the rest of the day painting independently. We will start each class by looking at a piece of your work from the previous day in order to provide and receive critical feedback, to learn from each other, and to gain inspiration. Creativity is contagious! Max. of 12 participants.

Cost: $210 nonmembers; $200 members.
